Dennis Chien is a graduate from the #1 ranked Biomedical Engineering program at The Johns Hopkins University, and a 16 year veteran from Johnson & Johnson MedTech and Depuy Synthes Spine having held leadership roles in Product Development, R&D, Marketing, and Strategic Alliances groups across a wide range of clinical applications and technologies.

He was a co-owner and VP at Telefactor Corporation (clinical neurophysiology) where he led Sales and Systems Engineering with a team that successfully exited in 2000.

​

Dennis currently consults for medical device and healthcare companies including Talosix, a Seattle based, AI driven, clinical Contract Research Organization (CRO), where he is head of Business Strategy.

​​

Dennis currently holds 26 US patents with several applications pending.

​​

Dennis lectures at both the University of Washington Bioengineering Masters program and the Johns Hopkins University Biomedical Engineering undergraduate and graduate programs. Dennis has been the Executive Chair of the Johns Hopkins Engineering Alumni Association and delivered Alumni Speaker Commencement Address for the Whiting School of Engineering 2020 Master's Degree graduation(1). Dennis is a mentor for the Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures Network of Entrepreneurs in Science and Technology (NEST) (2) and is a board member at Helpful Engineering (3).

Dennis also volunteers at the Vashon Island Fix-it Café (4) where, with a team of fixers, they educate the community, repair broken items, and typically divert some 800 pounds of likely landfill back into useful life at each event. Dennis founded the Fix-it Café Youth Academy that teaches fixing skills to middle and high school age students. Dennis also enjoys SCUBA diving, photography, and taking a Kaizen approach to making central Texas style BBQ Brisket.
